This itemset contains small 16×16 m platforms in 9 different surface variants.
Important: Download the following material and place it in the Documents\Maniaplanet\Materials folder. https://download.dashmap.live/babd5821-8cad-4ccd-9a80-218d0e3afd50/Road_NotCollidable.Mat.Gbx It is a non-collidable surface used to prevent land bugs at the sides of the items.
The 9 surfaces used for these platforms are:
Surfaces I recommend are Concrete, Sand, Dirt, and Grass. Concrete has a huge technical variety on these small platforms, with full-speed turns, brake drifts, and release turns. SuperMagnet is a little bit faster and doesn't let you jump over small bumps; otherwise, it's similar to Concrete. Wood is a little bit fast for these small platforms. The same is somewhat true for Forest.
Sand is pretty nice because of the low initial acceleration. Dirt has a higher initial acceleration than Sand, but the acceleration gets much weaker over 100 km/h, which makes the surface very suitable for speed slides. The speed slides are strong because of the high acceleration, and the car doesn't really escape the speed slide speed range. On the other hand, Dirt is very unsuitable for higher-speed tracks.
Wheat is similar to Dirt, but less exciting because of the somewhat lower acceleration. But different to Sand, this surface also doesn't get exciting at higher speeds, because the speed limit is barely higher than that of Dirt. So depending on the track, Dirt or Sand seem just superior to Wheat.
Grass is pretty fun on these small platforms. WetGrass has less grip and less initial acceleration than Grass; however, it doesn't have the low speed limit of Grass. So for higher-speed tracks it might be a good substitute for Grass. However, for technical tracks, Grass seems a bit more fun.
Not included surfaces are: FastMagnet, normal Magnet, Snow, and Ice, because they either have way too high acceleration for the small platforms, are too similar to SuperMagnet and Road, or are simply unreasonably slippery on small platforms like these.
In the Misc folder there are railing items that can be placed as borders on the platforms if you don't want players to fall off. There is also a Pillar folder to support the track visually in the air.
There are Stripe Waypoints in the Misc folder with optional pillars that can be placed beside them. You can switch the pivot position of these pillars by pressing "Q".
If a track exceeds the 1 MB limit for custom items, it may be a solution to reduce the surface variety of banked transition items. These have by far the biggest file sizes.
